New York City Parks: Washington Square Park

Washington Square Park, Manhattan, is located in Manhattan's Greenwich Village and is a favorite local park for residents and tourists, as well. Events in Washington Square Park are many and some of the most well liked include concerts, outdoor theatre, art and various workshops.



Free Summer Concerts

The Washington Square Music Festival 2011 begins in July and will have concerts consistently each Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm. The concert series will run from July through August. Come join us for an experience of gorgeous classical music and jazz with conductor Lutz Rath. This year, the Washington Square Musical Festival will celebrate 53 years of free concerts and is the second oldest free classical music series in New York. The concerts are located in front of the Holley Statue in the heart of Washington Square. In the unfortunate event of rain, concerts are moved to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Churchin Greeewich Village

NYLaughs ' Laughter in the Park 2011

NyLaughs ' Laughter in the Park is a free comedy series that runs for more than ten weeks weeks, beginning August 14, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 pm. Location is at Holley Plaza. Patrons should enter thru Washington Square west and walk east.

Mommy/Daddy and Me Photography Workshop

The New York City Photo Safari (newyorkcityphotosafari.com) will be building a fun filled photography workshop for Moms, Dads and kids, ages 8-13. This workshop will take place on October 2, 2011 from 9:00-11:00 am. Learn the way to work on your photography abilities by taking photos of the surrounding environment and taking family photos. You're sure to enjoy this special afternoon with your kid or youngsters. Classes are $150. (for one parent and one youth) and this price incorporates a pro quality 8X10 of your best picture. You must bring your own digicam and, if possible, it is a good idea to bring more than one camera - one for you and one for your kid. The Location is at 5th Avenue and Washington Square North, Manhattan.
