There is a wide range of shore excursions St Thomas offers the tourists who visit. They range from an adventurous day of kayaking through waters as clear as crystal to snorkeling and viewing a wide variety of tropical marine creatures. Snorkeling allows you to experience them up close and personal.

Nesting egrets, pelicans and blue herons fly above the southern coast. Plentiful fish with multicolored scales make their way past the coral reefs. The fish come in all sizes and all bright colors of the rainbow. You may see a large school swim by on your right and a single fish on the left.

There is a hiking tour that takes you to the island of Cas Cay. This fifteen acre wildlife preserve is part of the Park System. Plentiful numbers of birds soar lazily over the tide pools. Visit beaches at the foot of volcanic cliffs.

If you prefer to be above the waves, venture out on a catamaran or sailboat excursion. For a panoramic view of the beaches and waters, try a helicopter tour that soars high above the land.

You may enjoy the fast pace of a jetski excursion and combine it with a snorkeling adventure. St. Thomas has a beautiful shoreline. You can stop for a swim in one of the coves along the shore.

One of the most unique excursions is a ride in a private helicopter to one of the small desert islands. There you will be the only ones on the island. You can snorkel, swim or just lie on the warm sand. Honeymooners love this tour where they can be alone on a tropical desert island for a day. They will see no other people until the private helicopter arrives to transport them back at the close of day.

One innovative tour claims to connect humans with species of prehistoric dinosaur fish that swam in these waters for more than 125 million years. Fishermen, women and children over the age of six can encounter and catch what are referred to as prehistoric monsters of the sea. You will sit on a beach at sundown. You will fish in the surf by the light of the moon and stars.

You can join another unique excursion if you are physically fit. Four people and a guide will kayak to one of the small lagoons that are inaccessible by boat. You will be able to fish in that lagoon where fish are plentiful. This small group travels at night making it even more exciting.

Another tour that is inappropriate for anyone not physically fit is the Zipline Canopy Excursion. Start on a mountainside and from there zipline through the thick jungle-like canopy. It provides views you cannot imagine and leaves you with a memory like no other.

If you are traveling with young children an excursion on one of the larger boats is appropriate. Make a stop to swim in the tropical waters or walk on the sand. The shore excursions St Thomas offers are for tourists of all ages and interests. There is something for the senior citizen and the preschool child. Take one or more to create memories to last a lifetime.
