For many businesses security is important, not only for their employees but customers as well. Hotels rely on good security for their guests so they may feel comfortable during their stay. This is why their is a new lock technology sweeping across the business and hospitality industry. The use of RFID key cards is fast becoming the standard in locking systems.

RFID stands for radio frequency identification. This type of technology is different from the magnetic stripe key cards and computer chip cards on the market, they are quickly fading in the background in the wake of RFID technology. The advantages of using the newer locking system are many.

They offer more security at a fraction of the cost. Hotels that are transitioning to this modern wonder are experiencing cost savings that would have been unknown to them had this not been developed. The system uses radio frequencies to communicate with the locking device and the card key only has to be in proximity to it, not touching it. There is no swipe or insertion of any card in order to operate the lock.

The radio frequency that is encoded will match and the lock disengages upon successful presentation of the card key. This is refined keyless entry at its best. There is no physical contact with the lock which saves on wear and tear of the mechanism. Also, there are no issues with the card being unreadable as with magnetic and computer chip card readers.

Many hotel guests are amazed at this latest technology and feel privileged to use it. It gives them a sense of security knowing their personal effects are safe in their rooms from unlawful entry. Many customers of hotels that utilize this technology become repeat customers.

As more and more businesses like hotels upgrade their locking systems, they are turning to RFID technologies. Pretty soon, this will be the standard among many hotel chains. Right now, as this system is gaining acceptance, not only for the financial benefit but for the betterment of security within a business, many will find that it just may be the only solution to keyless entry.

Businesses are benefiting in a big way as they use this method to save money, time and maintenance costs. There is very little maintenance with keyless entry because the locks are not touched with human hands or by any standard keyed entry method. In this way, a company can save money, and the cost of replacing locks becomes obsolete.

As our world becomes more technologically advanced, society and business will benefit and adapt. Since technology is always changing, there is something new on the market everyday. For now RFID technology is the latest and greatest and making way for even better advancements in the future. Who knows what the future may hold, but it will be amazing to see just where we go and how far we have come.
