Cape Town is situated at the south western point of the continent, and is known as the gateway to Africa. So then, exactly what does Cape Town have to provide the avid visitor, foreign and local alike? alike? This city is alive with cultures of numerous kinds, stemming from numerous colonists from the Dutch to the French. It's a beautifully balanced city of cultures, sights and sounds. The earliest built building is the Castle of the Cape of Good Hope, built in the sixteen hundreds and is the second oldest building, called the Groote Kerk, meaning the Great Church, and this is the Dutch Reformed church in SA, the first of its kind.|Cape Town is situated at the south western point of continent, and is known as the entrance to Africa. This fantastic city is a beautiful blend of old historic structures and the new, more modern-day ones. It could appear ostentatious and not cohesive, however the 2 exist in perfect harmony. Old world charm meets new world efficiency. The reason for Cape Town's existence are the gardens, then called as the Company Gardens, better known to Cape Town citizens simply as town gardens, where you can take leisurely walks and feed the squirrels and delight in a warm summers day. Nonetheless, it was initially developed to provide the passing ships with fresh produce and meat far back in 1652. Sadly it is not nearly as large as it was, but still offers a charming park full of lovely old trees to just enjoy the environment.

Cape Town Holidays are not complete unless you have gone to the most famous part of this city; Table Mountain. It dominates the horizon and is a sight to be seen, specifically when the "table cloth" is covering it. Clouds appear to cover only the top of the plateau, making it look as if a white table cloth is covering the mountain top. On clear days, you can ride the cable cars to the top and take pleasure in some of the most amazing views on the planet, have a picnic or just take the most lovely photographs to remember Cape Town by. You can even go on walking trails up the mountain, if you are feeling fit and energetic. The mountain belongs to the Table Mountain National Park which extends all the way to the Cape Peninsula. It also has the loveliest fynbos and wild flowers around and does, in truth, boast more species of plants than the whole of Great Britain. Table Mountain is an experience that everyone, including us residents, need to be able to state "I have actually been up Table Mountain".

There is a lot to do and see in Cape Town, it is utterly impossible to note everything! Nevertheless, for those unfortunate minority of unenlightened, there are no lions or elephants or zebras roaming our city streets. We are as cosmopolitan as the next city, only more amazing to check out!
