The Golden Gate Bridge
This bridge is by far the most popular historical attraction in San Francisco. Not only is it a beautiful site, and also has historical importance as well. By taking a walk across this bridge, you can see a great deal of the city of San Francisco and the stunning bay. The project to build this bridge started in 1933, but was not completed until the year 1937.
Filbert Steps
If you happen to feel like a good workout, then you should definitely visit the Filbert Steps. There are over 600 steps, which go up the side of Sansome Street. It isn't the steps that are engaging, because they are crumbled and repulsive in some parts. The real beauty is in the amazing perspectives, which one can see on the way up. The gardens and captivating homes, which you see on the way up, are grand. When you reach the end of the steps, one can enjoy Coit Tower.
San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park
In the Fisherman's Wharf neighborhood, visitors will find this national park. The park encompasses a visitor center, a fleet of important vessels,a maritime museum, a library and a research facility. The building was first opened in 1951 to the San Francisco population. Visitors can see notable ships from the 1800's in all their glory. Tour these amazing ships and find out about their sea-faring history.
Fort Point
Journey to another time and place with a Fort Point visit. Once used as a hiding place for the military, now it's been the site of many Hollywood movies, including "Vertigo" by Alfred Hitchcock. This area is also incorporated in the famous computer game, "Grand Theft Auto". This structure was built in 1776 and today is crumbling a bit a bit. Still many people love to go here and see the superb perspectives from this area.

Roughly 1.5 miles off the coast of San Francisco, visitors will find the island that holds the jail Alcatraz. Until 1969 this was home to one of the worst incarceration institutions in the United States. Perhaps its most renowned prisoner was Al Capone, but Capone wasn't the most violent by far. Today, Alcatraz is recognized as amongst the most haunted areas in American and thus attracts a great deal of visitors. Tours are given daily of this historic building, with the extra bonus of a gorgeous ferry ride across the bay.
