Be sure to pre-plan your trip if an airport is involved in your travels. Most major airports are situated in busy cities, so driving to an airport can take a very long time during periods of heavy traffic. Be packed and ready the night before. Get your preparations ready before you fly. It feels terrible to miss your flight.

Be sure to create a list for packing. Your list should be made well in advance (7-30 days) and should include all of your necessities. If you get in a rush and have to pack right before you leave, this list will ensure that you have everything that you need, and that you do not forget something.

Consider your food allergies, if you have them, when you are traveling to foreign countries. Especially if your allergies are severe, you should learn the names of the foods in whatever language is necessary. Then at least you can warn the staff and possibly get a quicker response for medical professionals.

Looking for tickets online when you plan on traveling to a particular location or attraction is an easy way to prepare in advance. In addition, you can print the tickets ahead of time. The small fee for such a service is worth it to avoid long lines. Not only that, you may be able to skip the lines for entry as well.

Before boarding your flight, get a quick workout in. This will help you avoid the tediousness of long flights. When you are forced to sit in the same position for hours on end, your back and legs can cramp up. Stretching or working out before taking a flight can help reduce soreness.

Tip the bell boy and housekeeper when staying in a nice place. Generally speaking, it is about a dollar for each piece of luggage, and between $2 to $5 for cleaning the room. Tipping ensures good service and is sure to make your interactions with hotel staff more pleasurable.

You need to wear comfortable shoes when you take an airplane; it's preferable if you are able to slip your feet out of them easily. They will have to be taken off when you reach the security checkpoint. Comfort is paramount. While flying and navigating airport terminals, you will spend more time sitting than walking, and therefore you do not need tremendously supportive shoes. The best shoes for flying might well be sandals or flip-flops.

Always keep your most important belongings on hand when travelling. Carry your handbag tucked securely under your arm. Also, pick travel bags with secured flaps that conceal zippers and pockets, so that access is not easy in crowded or dangerous areas. Always consider these things before purchasing your travel bags.
