St. Maarten, located in the Caribbean, has been a popular tourist destination for many years. The beaches, the friendly people and the myriad of activities offered attract thousands of tourists each year. When planning your vacation there, make sure you know all about the st maarten activities that you can explore.

A popular time of the year to visit is April and May, because many tourists like to attend the Carnival which is held there every year at that time. The Carnival is a colorful festival with vivid costumes, music, performances and pageants. It is somewhat similar to the carnivals held in New Orleans and Rio de Janiero. The event lasts more than twenty days and has been running for more than forty years.

There are many activities available for visitors who love the water. You can go racing in a catamaran or snorkeling around the coral reefs. You can also go kayaking or swimming on one of the many beaches there. If you enjoy deep sea fishing, you can charter a fishing boat for a day and fish for marlin and other local fish.

If you like water sports, there are a variety of activities you can do there to keep busy. You can go water skiing, windsurfing or jet-skiing, or try kite-surfing. If you are feeling adventurous, you can also try parasailing or skydiving at Orient Bay. Do not be afraid to try new things, even if you feel nervous at first.

If you love marine animals, you may want to check out the Dolphin Fantasies Park, where guests can see live, trained dolphins. You can also swim with them if that is something you have always wanted to do. If you love animals, but swimming is not your thing, you can try horseback riding along one of the many beaches on the island.

If you enjoy sailboat racing, you may want to visit in March when the Heineken Regatta takes place. There are numerous colorful sailboats that take part in this event. But if you prefer boats that are under the water, instead of on it, you may be interested in visiting the St. Maarten semi-submarine. The submarine is air-conditioned and allows visitors to explore underwater life beneath the waves.

There are many family activities to do as well. Families can take pony rides together at one of the local riding clubs, or take sailing lessons together. There is also a zip line course for children aged eight and up which is also popular.

This is just a sample of some of the St. Maarten activities that you can try. What you decide to do will depend on your interests, your budget and whether you are travelling with children. If you are travelling with children, you should consider adding age appropriate activities for them. If you are going on your honeymoon, then you can select romantic things to do with your partner. Be sure to speak with your travel agent, who may be able to recommend other activities or events for you to try.
