Travelling Abroad? Don't Forget the Latest Holiday Gadgets

It's worth considering a few gadgets next time you're packing for that beach holiday in Crete, from the necessity of a camera, to the latest helpful apps to make our holidays that much easier.

There's nothing worse than your phone battery going flat when you're out and about. Smartphones and iPhones use a lot of battery so portable pocket chargers are a brilliant gadget. You might have all your travel apps downloaded, bought your audio guidebook, and cleared space on your phone for taking photos, but all of this can eat through your battery life in a flash.

The days of buying rolls of film, and waiting for your pictures to be developed once you get back have almost disappeared as digital has overtaken film in the world of casual photo-taking. Some people stay true to their film cameras, but for most of us, digital is the convenient must-have.

Not only can you take more pictures, but you can immediately tell whether you've snapped a dud, and need to take another one. For all the romance of picking up your holiday snaps from the processing shop, there's nothing more heartbreaking than finding those iconic once-in-a-lifetime moments didn't come out so don't take a risk with your valuable memories.

Portable speakers take up such little space, and at the end of the day, music transcends cultures, so share the music. Most people will have an mp3 player, and more of us have them within our smartphones. While we generally carry headphones around with us, portable speakers can be a very handy piece of holiday kit. Whether you want to play some tunes on the beach in Greece, share some music with your travelling companions or play your favourite songs in your Paris hotel room as you get ready to go out, you'll be glad you brought speakers with you.
