Santa Cruz is known for the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the redwoods and the movie the Lost Boys. What you didnt' know is that Santa Cruz has incredible wine and wineries.

Santa Cruz wineries boasts of over 70 tasting rooms and wineries and the Santa Cruz appellation is among the oldest regions in America that produces wine. Santa Cruz is best known for its pinot noir, an award winning wine variety among other wines that are available here. Actually, the winery scene in the county of Santa Cruz is deemed to be as diverse as sights in the region and appear to be inspired by the area's culture. Most of the wineries in this locality celebrate the different wine varietals in the county alongside entertaining events mixed with fun. Wine lovers continue to be attracted in the area by wine and art festivals in Capitola, Boulder Creek and Scotts Valley. The most notable Santa Cruz wineries are among:

Situated in the Santa Cruz county is the remarkable Sones Cellars. They offer various wine drinks such as Petite Syrah, Shiraz/ Syrah, Pinot Noir, Zifandel and White Blend. Successfully managed by Lois and Michael Sones, they made sure to provide their guests more reasons to go there. You can tour the barrel rooms, soak in the natural landscapes around, have private events and private tastings, buy stuff at their store, go on a wine and food pairing, enjoy a musical performance and of course, taste their wine. Bonny Doon Vineyard has been around for as long as the Santa Cruz wineries started. Built and first operated in 1983, Californians, as well as wine aficionados, were treated with the first wineries to embrace the Rhone varietals, which in effect, Randall Grahm was dubbed as "The Rhone Ranger". With its unconventional label, Boon Doon Vineyard has gained popularity with its unique artworks by Bascove, Ralph Steadman, Gary Taxali and Grady McFerin. Over the years, this incredible winery has dug its hands on other wine varietals from Italy, including biodynamic and screwscaps production. In 1994, Boon Doon Vineyard took a giant blow when their vineyards were contaminated by Pierce's disease. Fortunately, they pursued giving the best quality wines by acquiring their grapes from other vineyards in California, Europ and Oregon. In effect, they have slowly stood back up and is now standing at the top of all Santa Cruz Wineries. With a little over a century, they have precisely developed loads of yummy, hand crafted vino.

Introduced by Lance Campbell, a winner of more than 300 state and international awards in wine making, Copious Winery is definitely a favorite by wine enthusiasts. Aside from traditional blend styles developed by modern techniques of wine production, they have furthermore added other more special, refined and deliciously concocted vino. Their superb collection of wine is arguable some of the best in Santa Cruz wineries and includes bubbly cranberry and raspberry flavors to pinot noir, Cardonnay carneros and Sauvignon Blanc and a lot more.
