The need for speed by a number of people has seen much advancement in various machines. Many people view long boards as the sister to skate boards. This perception is due to the fact that the two are similar in appearance. Long boards have four parts, that is, the deck, truck, wheels and bearings. These components also exist within a skateboard. Long boards are meant for long distance cruising whereas skateboards are performing stunts. Maintenance of the long board is important for enabling longevity.

To start with, the deck plays a key role. It makes the body of the longboard. It I also prone to damages as compared to other components. A plywood is the main material for making it. However, in order to enable rigidity and firmness, materials such as fiberglass can be used to enhance it. When exposed to water, the ply can easily crack. It therefore has to be swiftly dried.

The next components are the bearings. These are the circular metal components located inside the wheels. They allow the wheels to spin and without them, the wheel cannot function. When the wheels spin from time to time, plenty of heat is generated. It is vital for these bearings to be changed regularly. Lubrication is also recommended. Long board trucks are in most cases made in such a way that they can put up with heavy weight and punishment. The trucks can be defined as the metal components which play a role of attaching the wheels to the deck. They are usually made of rubber cushions. The rubber allows for flexing continuously. Over a longer period of time, it can cause wearing out. The remedy is replacement.

The other components are the wheels. Wheels are quite significant given that they make contact with the ground. Worn out wheels may lead to instability and in the long run, accidents are bound to occur. Maintaining he wheels involve giving them a spin once in a while. This can be done clockwise or the other way round. If errors are noticed, arrangement must be made to replace as soon as possible.

It is normally recommended that the long boards be regularly examined. Amateurs who purchased it for the first time can consul experienced skaters for tips of checking out an error. Before and after boarding, the board has to be examined also. This also helps to prevent any looming dangers caused by loosened parts.

The contemporary society has seen tremendous development as far as various sporting equipment is concerned. Many of them are nowadays customized to put up with various weather conditions.
