Both mistakes and poor planning factor into the distress of some travelers. Air travel and airports are stressful and annoying enough as they are without adding stress to them. Then why don't you take the time to makes everything as easy as possible for yourself?

The following seven simple suggestions and tips will help you to make your next flight as comfortable and pleasurable as possible.

Know what you want and go for it. Sound like something from a bad self help book but it does actually work and it is something you can do yourself so it's not all bad news. The only thoughts that should be rushing through your head are that everything will be great and go smoothly and that the people you need to deal with will be helpful. The day is more likely to run smoothly if you are thinking that is what is going to happen than if you think that everything is going to go wrong.

Be sure to wear slip-on shoes Security in airports is tight, and it doesn't look to be easing off anytime soon this means that each time we want to fly somewhere we have to do a partial striptease in front of an airport filled with impatient passengers who just want to get on their flight. It's a given that you will have to remove your shoes at some point so why make it harder for yourself and just wear a pair of slip-ons.

Using a carry-on with wheels will provide you with lots of options. This will be your portable survival kit for any airport in the world. Whether you have luggage to check or not it is still advisable to have a small wheeled carry-on bag with you. Carrying all the small things that you might need to make the airports bearable in a bag over your shoulder can be tiring and limits the amount of flexibility you have. You can use your wheeled carry-on for the food, drinks and magazines that you may pick up during your trip through the airport.

Bring something to eat. Unless you are particularly fond of snacks devoid of nutritional value and high in fat and carbohydrates then you will want to buy healthier food options than what are available on the plane.

Drink. Drinking lots of water whilst flying will help you to feel better about the whole experience. The air on your plane is very dry and because you are in a sealed and pressurized environment the air is recycled throughout the flight. This means that your breathing in a lot of not very nice stuff and drinking water helps your body to deal with this.

Silence is golden, so investing in a set of noise-canceling headphones is a good choice. Wow is pretty much the only word that comes to me when I think of noise-canceling headphones. Noise-canceling headphones are a great investment if you fly quite often. You may have to put up with a lot of noise if you choose to travel via plane. With the powerful engines, crying babies and talkative neighbors, a flight can become one hell of a headache. These unfortunate side effects of modern air travel can become nothing but a background whisper with the help of noise-canceling headphones.

Bring something to do that can be easily replaced. From crossword puzzles to working of your laptop, there are lots of things you can do to kill times whilst flying or during a layover. You need an outlet to charge your laptop, you need a pen to do a puzzle and you need a credit card to access the lounge and watch TV. You get the point I'm driving at. You need to think ahead about what type of entertainment you will want that is easy to handle and easy to put on hold throughout the different phases of your journey. One of the best options is a magazine because if you forget it you can easily buy another one.

As well as making sure you stock your survival kit well, implementing these seven tips can help you to make your air travels more enjoyable.
