Planning a Fun Vacation in the Park

If your family vacation budget is a bit restricted this year, don't worry. Having fun with your family doesn't need to be dependent on spending a lot of money on your vacation. In fact, at times a simple day of vacation is the best kind. Think back on the fun times you've had in the past, and you may be amazed by how many of them were simple things that actually cost little or no money. You should keep in mind that the best part of your vacation really should be the time you spend with your family, not necessarily the place you go. If you're looking for something affordable to do as a family vacation, or else you just want to have a good time during a free afternoon, then planning a vacation day at your local park could be just the thing for you!

Selecting Your Destination

Chances are good that you have a park someplace near you if you are living in the typical neighborhood. There might even be multiple parks close enough to you that it will take very little time to get to them. When you research the subject, you may even learn that there are different benefits that each park has. For instance, one park could have a baseball field, while yet another has a great picnic spot. Other parks frequently have excellent trails and nature walks that everybody will love. Your target ought to be the park that has the most features that everybody in your family will have fun with. Of course, sometimes it is also fun to try something new. After the destination is chosen, then comes the planning.

Making Plans for a Vacation Day at the Park

Although you can certainly have a great time even if your family makes a spur of the moment decision to go to a park, it can be a lot of fun to do a bit of planning. Consider all of the sports or games you may want to play at the park, and then do any preparation is you need to as far as collecting supplies goes. One example of an inexpensive way to have fun is to bring some kites to the park if it's a windy day. You might even plan to eat a picnic lunch, and allow everyone in your family make a dish to add to the meal. Be sure to pack your camera so you can take some photos which you can display in picture frames or your scrapbook when you return home. You might also want to pack sports supplies like a baseball, bat and glove, or some tennis rackets if you are sure the park has a tennis court you can play on. There are even many parks that allow pets, provided that you clean up after them and they are kept on a leash.

How to Preserve the Memories of Your Family's Day of Vacation

You'll want to take lots of pictures of your vacation at the park, even if it didn't include anything different or exotic. Take photographs of your family enjoying time together, as well as pictures depicting the overall splendor of nature. You might even want to get enlargements made of some of your photos, placing them in large picture frames to make interesting and reasonably priced wall art.

As you can see, it doesn't take lots of time or resources to have a wonderful vacation. All that is required is a bit of planning, a destination, and the desire to have a great time!
