Romantic Holidays in Grenada

Its rolling and mountainous terrain might seem daunting when you've been a city dweller all your life. But you can't deny that the vibrant shades of green, blue, and red give Grenada an air of romance that cannot be found in any other island in the Caribbean. From the French-inspired (and built) town of St. George to the stunning beaches to the cascading waterfalls in the interior of the island, Grenada has everything to offer couples looking to celebrate a honeymoon or renew the spark in their relationship.

The people of Grenada understand the magic that their island has in binding two hearts and they have made it possible for those who wish to have that perfect Caribbean wedding to begin their lives here. The residency requirement is only three days (includes weekends and holidays) before you become eligible to apply for a marriage license.

Many hotels and inns in the island offer wedding packages so that all arrangements are taken care of even before you arrive in Grenada. They also give newlyweds a complementary room upgrade and other romantic perks like champagne and a basket of the island's fresh tropical fruits. But the romance does not end there.

The beaches of Grenada are sure to provide couples with an intimate, relaxing, and adventure-filled time. Grand Anse Beach is by far the most popular among tourists but it is not the only one in the island. For couples who wish to have more privacy, La Sagesse Beach or Bathway Beach is recommended. When strolling by the beach at sunset gets a bit boring, you and your loved one can enjoy the wonders underwater. Snorkeling together in Flamingo Bay, Dragon Bay, or the Underwater Sculpture Park is an amazing experience that you can both share together. The rich and varied flora and fauna that you can encounter in Grenada's snorkel sites make the experience memorable.

Grenada's waterfalls are also among the most romantic spots in the island. Surrounded by emerald forests, wild flowers, and tropical plants, one of the easiest waterfalls to get to is the Annandale Waterfalls. It sits just on the outskirts of St. George and has restroom facilities and shops. However, if you want to have the place all to yourselves, don't go when the cruise ships are in harbor as it is bound to be crowded.

If both you and your special someone are avid hikers, set a day to visit the Seven Sisters Waterfalls. The hike there takes about 45 minutes but isn't as challenging as that of, say Paraclete Waterfalls in St. Andrew. You will be rewarded with a large and cool pool to swim in at the Seven Sisters. If you take the time to hike a bit further, you will be able to discover the hidden gem of the Honeymoon Falls.

If you would rather stay in the city, St. George has a lot of attractions to offer couples. Fort George and Fort Frederick allow you to get a sweeping view of the city and the Caribbean Sea and the numerous restaurants in the capital will enable you to share many romantic dinners together and savor the romance that is Grenada.
