Truth be told, the typical American simply loves to eat. People would use just about any excuse to have a feast. They keep volumes after volumes of old family recipes in the hope that there will be many occasions in which they would be able to cook all of them at once. Feasts and banquets are among various ways to keep good people together to share good food, and this is why people love it so much.

Whatever the occasion, especially during holidays, people always expect to see roasted fowl that the men take home from hunting outdoors using turkey hunting seats. The turkey has always been a crowd favorite, and almost everyone has a special recipe that has been handed down from daughter to daughter.

No one really knows if turkey had been served in the first ever Thanksgiving, though records show that they have gone turkey hunting before the meal. Also, when it was declared a national holiday, the president himself had served the fowl to his guests. Since then, it was raised to being the star of the holiday feast, along with cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.

The turkey is a wild bird that is native to America. During Thanksgiving and Christmas, it has been the tradition of every American to sit down to a turkey dinner. But, since it can be a little bit pricey, most people just prefer to hunt this fowl so that they can have this bird to complete the menu.

To be able to hunt successfully, one must first know the nature of the prey. By knowing all about its characteristics, you will be able to get an idea how to catch one successfully in the wild. First off, these are rather smart birds. They are very watchful and can just speed off into the horizon at the slightest form of movement. One must be able to stand or sit still during a hunt.

It has a very huge and very diverse appetite. It can eat almost anything. Ninety percent of its diet consists of animal matter, while the remaining ten comprise the insects it loves to munch on. From everything that it forages on in the woods, this bird is partial to acorns. In fact, wild turkeys are stuffed mostly with these.

For a successful hunt, you should dress appropriately. Keep in mind that turkeys are very watchful creatures, so you need to be unnoticeable. For this, you will need hats, vests, suits, gloves and head nets that are made of camouflage material. This allows you to blend in and fire at a fowl in closer ranges.

Of course, a hunts man needs a weapon. Shotguns are the obvious choice. There is not really a guideline in choosing one, since preferences differ from one person to the next. Just choose the one you are most comfortable with.

Since this can be a whole day activity, you may also want a chair in which you can rest your tired bum on. They can be easily folded, lightweight for easy travel, and durable to withstand heavy weight. With a seat to sit on, you can now rest quite easily while waiting for the game.
