Education begins in school rooms, but the best way to expand on what you've learned is to explore the world. You're probably ready to personally visit the nations you've read about in school. Fortunately, there are opportunities available through student travel programs.

It doesn't matter if you're still in high school, or attending college. There are organizations that will help you visit many different locations on the globe. You may want to tour the Giza Pyramids, or explore the ruins of ancient civilizations in Greece. If you've seen it in a textbook, you can see it in person. You'll even learn of places you've never heard about before.

It's possible to go as a volunteer and help improve the lives of the local residents. Or, you may be a part of a workshop, where students are encouraged to develop a create response to their trip. For example, you could be asked to write Internet blogs or present photo collections that document your experiences.

An assignment project could be just the thing for you. An organization might be looking for help with an archaeological dig. Or, there might be a marine biologist who needs more people for an exploration of a certain coastal region.

After all the books you've read in school, there must be a place you've felt compelled to see. It might be that you've always been curious about Asia, Australia, or Alaska. Or, you want to learn more about the United States, and would love to visit the nation's capital. With all the programs available, you'll find a way to see any of these places.

Book learning is an extremely important component of education. Without books, you may not know much about the world around you. However, student travel programs allow you to experience that world first hand. Speak to a representative at your school, or browse the Internet to learn more. The world is waiting.
