A Brief View At The History Of EVA Airlines

Known throughout Asia, EVA Air is primarily an international passenger carrier airline that also operates cargo distribution networks. Decades of experience have made this privately owned airline one of the best in the business. Due to generous investors, this company has grown from its humble beginnings to an international success story. Slogans used by EVA Air are very memorable because of their unique marketing approach. For example, "Fly EVA Air and Feel the Difference" was their launch slogan in 1991. "Sharing the World, Flying Together" has been their slogan for the last five years. We will now detail several key facets of this Asian airline.

It was the spring of 1989 when EVA Airways acquired their operations license so they could start running. A major investment, the company ordered 26 airliners from McDonnell Douglas and Boeing to be made and delivered. At its inception, EVA was going to be named Evergreen Airways but higher powers prevailed and permanently removed it. Evergreen International was actually the name of another airline that specialized as a cargo carrier. So of course they wanted to avoid any confusion as well as sharing a rather unique name. Once done, they were given the go-ahead to move forward as fast as possible.

Just a decade ago, EVA started making massive strides forward to expand their international presence. As you probably have guessed, expansion is only possible if you have enough airliners to do the job. Boeing's 777-300ER planes, with long-range capabilities, made it possible for this company to quickly expand. In addition, there were orders for several Boeing 777 variants. EVA was looking to provide destinations to the US and Europe; hence the long range aircraft. Another type of aircraft that EVA ordered were the Airbus A330-200 airliners for Asian connection points.

EVA is a mostly privately held company, even though they did begin offering stocks in 2001. They are listed on the Taiwanese Stock Exchange. However, most of the holdings are private and continue to remain that way ever since. The impacts all through the airline industry have becoming quite extensive following 9/11. Those that were touched were not limited to the air carriers that originated in the US due to the affect placed on US flight operations. Unlike several other businesses in 2002, EVA retorted the most excellent way feasible for them and they were lucky enough to stay in business.

EVA Air is evermore proving what is viable by planning intelligently and deliberate thinking. During the early nineties, they got a grip by eventually merging with some smaller airline companies and some important alliances. On the other hand, EVA continued to the name of the association which procured a number of airlines. Despite the fact they EVA had to make some decent sized changes to their budget in the beginning of the twenty-first century, it still took them a bit of time before they decided to post their initial profits. The end of the first decade of the "new millennium" looks very optimistic and encouraging for Taiwan's airline.
