Is it true that you should only smoke a cigar halfway? No. The only justifications for smoking less than the entire cigar have to do with either being interrupted and having to attend to something else or simply not being able to handle the entire cigar. Most of the time, cigar smokers will tell you that smoking the entire cigar is not only more enjoyable, it also ensures that you get to experience the entire ritual that you should be familiar with when you smoke a fine cigar.

One of the most frequently asked questions amongst new smokers is "is it true that you should only smoke a cigar halfway?" There are many individuals who belong to the cigar smoking community who would tell you that you should only be smoking the cigar until it is half gone. Because this myth is so wide spread and held to be true amongst so many long time smokers, new smokers in the community just assume that must be the truth. The truth is that you can smoke a cigar however much you like, whether you only want to go halfway or smoke it all the way down.

The fact of the matter is that the overall flavor and taste of a cigar undergoes some changes as it is being smoked. The closer you get to the end of the cigar the more noticeable the difference in the flavor will be. There are many individuals who smoke cigars all the way to the end who enjoy the change in flavor and taste. The change in flavor is often something that is an acquired taste and is honestly not for everyone. What it comes down to is what your own personal smoking preferences are.

Smoking half a cigar may also have some financial benefits to the cigar smoker. By cutting the consumption of a cigar in half the cigar smoker is allowing themselves two significant smoking experiences per cigar. As quality cigars can sell for at least $20, this smoking method is a great way to ensure that maximum cost efficiency is enjoyed.

Even if you only smoke the cigar halfway, you will still experience some change in the flavor. The difference is that at the beginning and toward the middle of the cigar, the change in flavor is more subtle. As stated earlier, it is simply a matter of personal preference.
