The introduction of the flight between Newquay and London Southend will reduce the time it requires to take a trip between the two places from a 9-hour train trip or 6-hour car journey to simply a brief 60 minute journey. Plane journeys will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with reservations from the inexpensive airliner reasonably estimated at approximately 30 per seat, which makes the trip between London Southend and Newquay both easy and inexpensive.

This announcement comes at a significant point for Newquay airport, with a tumble in passengers reported in the previous year. The latest flights are anticipated to attract around 20000 new passengers - an added bonus not merely for the airport but for Cornwall itself. Moreover, the Managing Director of the airport has suggested that there are negotiations taking place regarding starting a few extra flights to a range of airports in the next couple of years, such as flights to the Mediterranean, a well-liked tourist destination.

These routes are likely to entice not only a good range of travellers to the place but also traders. It will make Newquay far more obtainable for those who have family living in the area.

The airport, located a few miles from Newquay town centre on the North Cornwall coastline, provides excellent access to numerous towns in the nearby area, some which have been recognized for their lovely seashores and plentiful destinations including the Eden Project. The airport terminal makes it possible for visitors from quite a few regions of the United Kingdom, which include both London as well as Edinburgh, to pay a visit to Cornwall, which is considerably important for the local holiday sector. The airport terminal is ready to cater for nearly 700000 cutomers every year and has a variety of amenities such as coffee outlets, souvenir retailers and an executive area for business passengers.

In earlier times the airport was utilised as an RAF base, until December 2008 when it underwent the change to a fully civilian airport and was granted a permit by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Alongside Easyjet, Flybe and Skybus also run regular flights from Newquay Airport. Along with providing seats to a lot of places, the airport also offers Flight Experiences and Flying Training for the people aiming to get a Private Pilot's Licence.

There are virtually no options for adequate road transport links at the airport. Most people from the Penzance area still tackle lengthy and undesirable train journeys with multiple changes at stations which in fact are not staffed enough to deal with the extra passengers. Also, parking facilities at Newquay is incredibly costly and generally there is apparently a militant method of handing out parking fees and penalties.

The leaders at the airport and also Cornwall Council may perhaps be wise to pay attention to these kinds of issues in the the next couple of months.
