Home decorating involves many different aspects. One of these is designs and styles on windows. Though you can get standard ones in local stores, and can even get customized ones in some stores. However, to make a strong statement, going with unique window treatments is the way to go. You will have something that no one else has, meaning your personal decorating style is portrayed in this way.

Styles for decorating windows include blinds, draperies, curtains, and fabric screens. Also, cornice boards can be decorated according to personal style. These can all be made to have a formal or casual look. The colors can range from monochromatic schemes to complementary colors or harmonizing colors from the color chart. This is one area where, no matter the style, individual preferences are evident.

Design statements are made in fabric choices as well, whether a solid or print is chosen. Plaids and stripes are just part of the choices available. Combining them with interesting construction methods like pleats or gathers will give a totally different look. Even is designs are limited, combining them with different styles and colors gives a totally individual look. Cornice boards can be print in combination with solid panels, or vice versa. Another person might use a solid cornice and print panels.

Blinds can be wooden, or acrylic style. They can be vertical or horizontal. There are also fabric blinds, or shades. These can be Roman or other roller styles. The acrylic styles come in almost any imaginable color, from soft pastels to deep, rich formal colors. They also come in fun-loving colors and looks. They have the added advantage of providing light and temperature control.

Ornamental touches can also give a totally different look from any others. Beads, baubles, bows and other elements give a totally different look. If you aren't into them, you can have such things as fringed and rope-style tie backs. They can be in either coordinating or contrasting colors. Even embroidery can be used as a design element. Combine any of these with lace sheers and you have another totally distinct look.

Personal taste is one determinant of style choices, but so is room function. Though one doesn't have to choose what is considered traditional styles for a room such as a kitchen or bath, different rooms will have different requirements so far as style is concerned. Heavy drapes that are formal in look will not fit a kitchen or family room as well as they would in a formal living room.

The home is a very personal thing. People have their own ideas about what they want for interior design. Colors, style, and utility are all decisions that must be taken into account when making decorating design statements. No person can make these decisions for another. Professionals do give advice and guidance, but ultimately design decisions belong to the homeowner.

Though they are not the only element, unique window treatments are an important part of making design statements. Careful choices about styles will ensure satisfaction with the chosen design. The home is one place where personal choices are so significant and satisfying.
